Real conversations beat flashcards
Each pin is a real person with a first name, an age and now and then a short intro. Zoom in on a place where people speak English, open a profile and type a line or two. Talk about a series you are watching or a dish you love, and notice the words people actually pick.
English, Filipino, or a bit of both
English and Filipino are both official languages in the Philippines, so you can chat in English and happily teach a few Filipino words in return. Someone curious about your language will be glad to trade, and a fair exchange keeps the conversation going.
Neighbors across the sea
From the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia sit just across the water on the map. Many people there are also working on their English, so you can compare tips. When you feel like going farther, slide the map toward Australia, Europe or the Americas.
Your afternoon is their night
When it is noon in Manila, it is about 4 or 5 in the morning in London and around midnight in New York, while Sydney is only 2 or 3 hours ahead. Pick the time zone that suits you: live chats with Australia or Asia in the afternoon, and replies from the West waiting for you in the morning.
Stuck on a word? It happens
A free account lets you translate incoming messages into your language and send yours already translated. Think of it as training wheels. It does not replace practice, because you are still the one writing and speaking.
You keep control of your privacy
Your position is always blurred, so people only see a general area and never your address. Messages are encrypted in our database, there are no advertising trackers, and you may delete your profile or download your data at any moment.
