Is Penpalmap free?
Yes, completely. Chatting, creating a profile or an account, adding photos: nothing is paid, and there are no ads.
Is Penpalmap secure?
Your messages are encrypted in our database, your exact location is never shown, your password is never stored in plain text and we use no advertising trackers. You can also delete your data at any time.
Do I need an account?
No. A temporary profile only needs a first name, an age, a gender and a position. A free permanent account (email and password, or Google) also lets you add up to six photos, detail your profile and translate messages. Both can have a short bio.
Can I talk to someone who doesn't speak my language?
Yes, with a free account. A button under each message you receive translates it into your language, among 25 languages, and an option translates the whole conversation. The message is sent to Microsoft to be translated, without being stored there. The service can occasionally be unavailable. Without an account, translation is not available.
Does it take long to start chatting?
No. A temporary profile is created in seconds, with no email or password, and messages arrive live.
Who can join?
Anyone aged 13 or older. Everyone shares the same map.
Is my exact location visible?
No. Your position is always blurred on the map. You choose it yourself, with your browser's location or a click on the map.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete your profile or account at any time and download your data. The privacy policy gives the details.
